Our Missional Business Bootcamp

On Saturday, March 9, 2024, we held our first Missional Business Bootcamp in partnership with Christian Life Assembly Church (CLA) in Langley, BC. And it was a success!

Our goal was that through this Missional Business Bootcamp, business owners, professionals, and entrepreneurs would be equipped for whole-life discipleship and the stewardship of their vocational calling. This was our solution to the need that we’ve seen among Christian business leaders who are looking for practical teaching on how to be missional in and through their business.

What Did the Event Look Like?

With over 40 business leaders in attendance, we spent four intensive hours facilitating curated material through brief presentations and highly interactive table discussions. All participants were provided with a workbook to guide them through the presentation material, discussions, and QR codes to resources for further learning.

This format allowed us to unpack the Missional Business Pathway (pictured below) in a way that participants could comprehend and apply it to their context during such a fast-paced event. Participants came away learning:

“I can be more effective for God’s Kingdom in a business perspective.”

“The Lord’s passion should drive [me].”

“I can be the change in my workplace.”

Along with creating this understanding of missional business, we wanted each business leader to come away from the event feeling connected to local like-minded business leaders. We understand the need for Canadian Christians in business to journey with others, especially after an event that poses new questions to think over.

Throughout the event's schedule, we created opportunities for connection. Participants could meet one another casually as they ate their breakfast when the event started, through the many table discussions, in an icebreaker activity, and after the event ended. This proved to be valuable for participants, as one participant realized,

“I’m not alone.”

The participants varied in demographics, business stages, industries and understanding of BAM. Some were already owners of missional business, while this event was the introduction of the BAM movement for others in attendance. Yet, all participants of shared the foundation of faith, intrigue in missional business, and geographical location— providing areas which these participants could connect.

What’s Next?

Looking to the future, we have big plans for more Missional Business Bootcamps!

We will continue to host these bootcamps in partnership with host churches. The church is a great model of distribution as it establishes a local space for relationships to grow and conversations to happen after an event occurs. The bootcamps also provide a means for church leaders to support their business leader members a Biblical understanding of their work.

Another thing to note going forward is that we plan on creating a facilitator’s guide that will enable churches to run this independent from our BAM Canada team. This aligns with our desire to make this missional material accessible so that it reaches business leaders across the country. If this distribution method is something that interests you, reach out to info@bamcanada.net

And if you’re interested in hosting a Missional Business Bootcamp and having our team facilitated, please reach out to us at info@bamcanada.net! We look forward to growing our partnerships and collaboration with Canadian churches across the country.

May more Christian business leaders be gathered to grow in their redemptive purposes!
