Across Canada’s Nation

As spring turns to summer, Canadians locally and globally look towards Canada Day as a time of national pride and unity. Our dream for Canada is to see unity among strong missional business communities nationwide that collaborate while solving local problems as well as solving global issues, creating opportunities and dignity through business.

At BAM Canada, our role is to catalyze locally and support nationally. 🇨🇦

The Power of Locality

BAM does not exist as a monoculture— it is a growing, polycentric movement. Our goal has never been to have a 'chapter' model of top-down content transplanted into a community. Instead, we see local communities that gather missional business leaders around their contextual obstacles and opportunities, both here and around the world, through redemptive business— together!

There is a growing interest in the hearts of Canadians as more and more grasp the opportunity that Business as Mission presents. There are groups across the country doing incredible things in their local communities, where local problems are solved while paying attention to the poorest and least evangelized peoples.

For one such example, we can look at what God is up to in la belle province— BAM Quebec is still being conceptualized BY Quebecers, FOR Quebec - but would not exist as an extension of BAM Canada. The collective vision is that BAM Quebec, created from the passion of local collaboration of Quebecois business owners, is made to fit and address the cultural and economic needs of the province.  BAM Quebec would act as a proud and equal partner within a country-wide BAM Canada sphere or network.

Another great story comes from Mike Davies, the leader and pioneer of BAM Vancouver, an organization that even predates BAM Canada's founding! With the help of passionate Vancouverites, Davies has built a community of like-minded believers in business to educate, inspire, and connect business as mission practitioners locally AND globally. As we always say, these locations are not 'chapters' of BAM Canada— they are independent communities that have chosen to use their talents and skills to glorify God through missional business.

And you might have seen this spring when we gathered a group of missional business leaders in Alberta for an interest event, as there is a growing group of passionate locals. This group is looking to jumpstart a community of like-minded business leaders looking to launch new projects to see businesses become more missional.

We aren't in a rush to see new things launch, and we know that God's timing is perfect. We are simply here to catalyze locally and do the work of supporting each of these groups nationally.

Success may seem small when we look at one community, but when communities unite to improve their locality, all of Canada can benefit!
