Five Years In: What’s Taking Root Across Canada
As we celebrate five years of BAM Canada, we find ourselves holding both gratitude and expectancy.
What began as a small, faith-filled initiative has, over time, taken root in ways we could not have fully anticipated. These early years have been marked by listening, learning, and stepping forward in faith — often without having the full picture, but trusting that what we were building mattered.
And now, as we look back, we can see it more clearly.
Across Canada, something is growing.
Over the past five years, we’ve had the privilege of helping shape a national conversation around Business as Mission — one that invites business leaders to see their work not just as a means of income, but as a platform for redemptive impact.
We’ve launched a podcast to share Canadian stories from leaders living this out in real time. We’ve built an online community where business owners can connect, wrestle with ideas, and grow alongside others who understand the unique intersection of faith and business. We’ve strengthened a growing number of local ecosystems, creating space for conversations to take root in cities and regions across the country.
And perhaps most importantly, we’ve walked alongside leaders as they begin to reimagine their businesses.
To see that they are not alone.
To discover a shared language for what they’ve long sensed but may not have had words for.
To realize that faith is not something separate from their work — but something that can fundamentally reshape how they lead, build, and define success.
This is the quiet, steady work of transformation. And it is happening in boardrooms, on job sites, in startups, and in established companies across Canada.
We are so thankful for the opportunity to play our part in this work, as Scripture reminds us, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” It could not be done alone and we are honoured to contribute to His Kingdom in this unique way.
In many ways, these first five years have been about sowing — investing in people, conversations, and foundations that would take time to grow. What we are beginning to see now are the early signs of that harvest.
But this is only the beginning.
Over the past year in particular, we have sensed a shift. What once felt like experimentation is maturing into something more established — a movement that is not only emerging but strengthening.
We are moving from asking, “What could this be?” to stewarding what is already taking shape.
And as we look ahead, the invitation is clear: to go deeper.
Deeper in the formation of leaders who are equipped to integrate faith and business with clarity and conviction.
Deeper in building communities where business owners are known, supported, and challenged to grow.
Deeper in expanding the impact of Canadian businesses — locally and globally — in ways that reflect a more holistic vision of success.
We believe the future of business in Canada can look different.
We believe businesses can be places where people flourish, where communities are strengthened, and where purpose is held alongside profit — not in tension, but in alignment.
And we believe your voice is needed in shaping that future.
To those who have walked alongside BAM Canada in these early years — thank you. Your trust, your participation, and your willingness to explore what this could look like in your own context has helped lay a foundation that will continue to grow in the years ahead.
To those who are just beginning to explore this space —there is room for you here.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to fit a specific mould. What matters is a willingness to ask new questions, to see your work through a different lens, and to step into the possibility that your business can be part of something far greater.
As we step into the next five years, we do so with hope.
What has been planted is growing.
What is growing will bear fruit.
And together, we have the opportunity to shape what comes next.
