Networking for Kingdom Impact

On June 3rd, 2022, we had the privilege of attending the 2022 BAM Vancouver Conference – a conference for the Kingdom-minded business community bringing about redemptive purposes in Vancouver and to the ends of the world. Keep reading for a recap and the encouragement we took away from this incredible event our Silver Partner put on:

Entrepreneurs, investors, business professionals, students and passionate individuals gathered in one room for one common cause: to create, invest and build businesses with Kingdom impact. We met people from all different sectors of business who are passionate about impacting their local communities and around the globe, too.

We honour the BAM Vancouver lead team, led by Mike and Jennifer Davies. This couple saw a need for connection in the Vancouver business community, and put on an intentional and impactful conference that blessed our team and the attendees. It can be easy to get swept up in the excitement of an event, but these events deeply penetrated our hearts in a way we can’t describe because they left us so inspired.

It wasn’t about checking “networking” off the to-do list… it’s always about building connection.

As relational beings, we long to build healthy relationships - and being in business as a believer is no different. While you might not need something from a person you just met or be able to help them in some way, along the way, you never know what opportunity God can bring along for the two of you to further His Kingdom come on Earth as it is in Heaven.

The BAM Vancouver conference provided just that: an opportunity to meet in person to share stories, wisdom and to testify to what God is doing through business. There was electric expectation and desire to connect and see how else the body of Christ can spur on more impact to Vancouver, the rest of Canada and the world.

Is networking something that feels like a chore for you? Keep reading.

We’d love to challenge you to refresh and renew your perspective of it. It doesn’t need to be a “sales pitch” or comparison game, but a way to equip and be equipped as you run on mission. It’s crucial to spend time in this area, regardless if you’re an introvert or extrovert. God can (and does!) intervene in conversations to help us connect, strategize and collaborate in seeing Him, your CEO, develop and transform your business to bring more glory to Himself and others to His heart.

So, what happened at the conference?!

We heard from two keynote speakers, sat in panels, networked, got to know people all across Canada, checked out booths and had a whole lot of fun! In each segment, two common themes continued to be addressed:

  1. Social Impact Investmentfocused on implementing business solutions to help bring people out of poverty and build a sustainable future through economic and social development.

  2. Transformational Businesslooking at what it means to be transformational in your own businesses by sharing experiences of kingdom impact and positive change in the community.

These were our co-founders, Aubrey Tozer and Carrie-Anne Ballantyne’s, highlights from the event:

  • The conference itself! To see a locally catalyzed group coming together and passionate to seek what God has next for them…. Wow! We’re so honoured we got to be present at be partnered with BAM Vancouver!

  • It was incredible to see smaller, local meetings come together with other business leaders and entrepreneurial minds to see what God would imagine for them and their city. We fully believe God is on the move in Canada - and the best truly is yet to come.

  • The stories. Hearing so many inspiring individuals being faithful with what God has placed in front of them, convicts and challenges you to do the same. And ask God what He has for you.

You could feel hearts stirring and minds dreaming in the room... There was so much testimony of His goodness and possibility to soak in.

1 Corinthians 9:24 says this: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

Part of running your race is to continue moving and persevering after events, significant moments and conferences. So, if you were in attendance, whatever ideas or ventures that emerged from this conference - keep the conversation going and use those unique connections and insights obtained to fuel your journey of bringing kingdom impact to earth. If you weren’t in the room, we encourage you to find a way to network in a way that feels authentic, healthy and Kingdom-minded to you (that’s why we created the BAM Canada Network, by the way…!).

Cheers to a great event - we’re so excited to see how God will move through our workplaces this year!
